Wine Cask Tasting Room
The Wine Cask Tasting Room is a loose “Alliance” of the top Santa Barbara wine producers. We carry only hand-crafted, small production wines made at wineries committed to the philosophy of making wines with place and personality to them - those that are made to very high standards. We carefully select wines that work within the connotations of nature, stressing individuality and focused on production on a human, non-industrial scale.
The mainstay wines available for tasting include Margerum wines, made at Wine Cask partner Doug Margerum’s winery on Foxen Canyon Road in Los Olivos. Doug produces M5, single vineyard Syrahs, Sauvignon Blancs, and Pinot Gris. Doug works with the top vineyards in Santa Barbara County to produce small lots of premium wines. In this shared facility, he also makes Happy Canyon Vineyards wines: PIOCHO, Barrack (Brand and Ten~Goal), and CHUKKER from estate vines in Happy Canyon consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.
Doug also consults for Three Creek Vineyards, producing Cimarone wines from Bordeaux varietals, Syrah, and Sangiovese as well as their 3CV wines known as EDGE (Syrah) and BANK (Bordeaux varietals blended with Syrah). Doug also consults for and makes the CENT ‘ANNI wines where he specializes in Sangiovese.
Doug has put together a fine portfolio of imported wines as well. After 25 years of traveling the wine roads, and through his many contacts and acquaintances in the wine business, Doug has an impressive and select list of vintners from a variety of the worlds finest wine regions: in Champagne J.L. Vergnon, in Tuscany from Castello di Tornano and Casa al Vento, in Slovenija from Goriska Brda, from Burgundy he offers Domaine Sabre and from the south of France Chene Bleu wines from La Verriere in Crestet. These are all available for sale in the tasting room.
Additionally we will carry wines that we personally enjoy and from our friends throughout the world and our hope is others will enjoy them as well.
